Let the All-Star Game reflect our age of positionless basketball, right? I'm not sure if a system where positions aren't considered at all is the solution, but a loosening of that requirement is healthy.
Personally don't mind increasing to 15 but one argument against is the dilution of minutes for top players during the game and also (like it or not) how # of All Star appearances are used to compare players across generations and how it would lead to players having a higher chance of more AS appearances even though I know historically it hasn't always been 24 either so the point is rather moot.
Another solution could be, instead of requiring 3FC and 2BC starters as well as reserves, they could make it 2BC and 2FC and the 5th starter/reserve would be next highest vote getter in either BC or FC?
So instead of 6-8FC and 4-6BC you would have the flexibility of 4-8FC and 4-8BC?
With all those Bulls fans in Indianapolis, I really thought that was a Chicago home game based on crowd noise reaction to that DeMarr shot. Had to watch for the Pacers court floor logo at the end of the video to confirm
I’m fine with 12 players. Bottom players on regular NBA rosters usually get DNP’d, and I’d hate to dilute the minutes of the starters or even better reserves with All-Stars #13-15. But, I also think the whole voting-by-position restriction is vestigial/outdated — I’d eliminate it completely.
It almost makes you want to go back to the old way of voting strictly by position, since you could drop some of the larger guards into spots for small forwards.
Hey you forgot Bradley Beal!

Hold up, Z. I thought DeMar DeRozan was listed as a forward!? 😂
Nope!

Almost.
Definitely 15 a side. Though then the coaches have to deal with more egos wanting to be on the floor.
Tyler Herro for eastern conference guard consideration! (It emphasizes your point though, so many good guards not enough spots)
