It's Luka, it's Steph, it's Ben Anti-tokounmpo, it's the NBA!
There's a lot happening right now.
Good morning. Let’s basketball.
Scores
Mavericks 129, Nets 125 (OT) — Basketball is pretty cool. Here’s the clutch steal and assist by Ben Simmons (!) to get us to overtime.
Simmons also airballed a layup and finished with 7-8-4 so, you know, the jokes continue to flow on the Basketball Internet. I’m rooting for Simmons to find peace and regain his on-court confidence. Also, I saw someone refer to him as “Anti-tokounmpo” due to his current lack of aggression and … wow, yeah, that’s a great one.
Full game highlights. Luka Doncic is top four in my unofficial mental MVP tracker right now, behind only Giannis and basically tied with Steph Curry and Ja Morant. Lots of Luka Magic in this one, including the best pass of the season to date.
Clippers 110, Thunder 118 — OKC just swept a 2-game set with the Clippers. And this is why I didn’t pick L.A. to win the No. 1 seed in the West even though I picked them to make the Finals. Yes, the Clippers are quite deep. But any time Kawhi Leonard sits and Paul George has an off-night (4/12 from the floor), the Clippers can lose against anyone. Even OKC.
24 in the win for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, definitely in line for an All-Star nod at current pace. Seventeen made threes for the Thunder.
On the bright side for L.A.: John Wall dunking in transition on Stretch J.E. Skeets. Nice.
